Meet Matt Johnson, Founder
Matt has spent 30+ years inside real businesses — building, fixing, and running the operational systems that keep them profitable. He started Crenel Systems because he kept watching small and mid-size companies get sold AI hype that never produced results. Crenel exists to do the opposite: find the handful of places AI genuinely pays for itself in your business, build them properly, and stay until they work.
He works as an advisor and fractional Chief AI Officer, pairing every opportunity with the right tool from a working catalog of 400+ he's evaluated across 77 categories. He stays in ongoing AI training as the tools change month to month, and he's a builder as well as a strategist — including a church-management software platform of his own.
